Alabama wide receiver to visit two SEC schools
Collins Moore has a big week ahead of him.
The silky-smooth wide receiver from Madison (Bob Jones), Ala., will travel to Ole Miss and then on to LSU to check out two of his three favorites.
The trip to Oxford will be the second in as many months for Moore, who has moved up on the Rebels' want list since a strong appearance at the Rebels' elite camp in June. It will be his first to LSU, which offered months ago.
Moore, a 6-foot-2, 185-pounder, said he's talked to Ole Miss coaches "a lot" since his camp performance.
"I talk to them at least once a week," Moore said. "When I went out to the camp and showed them what I had, they liked what they saw."
Moore, who is taking the two-school trip with his girlfriend and her parents, will arrive in Oxford on Wednesday and stay until Thursday, when he will depart for Baton Rouge.
"We're going to do a campus tour, a campus visit and just see with the administration (at Ole Miss)," Moore said. "Then we're going to go over and check out all of the football facilities."
Moore will tour LSU Friday and relax a bit on Saturday before camping at LSU on Sunday.
"As of right now, those are two of my top three," said Moore, who also lists Kentucky as a co-leader along with Ole Miss and LSU. "But I don't think I'm going to make a decision anytime soon."
Moore has flirted with the idea of making an early commitment, but he said Thursday he will likely take two or three official visits during the season before making a decision. Moore said one thing that won't impact his decision is depth charts at his prospective schools.
"When I look at it, I'm not really worried about the depth chart," Moore said. "The way I look at it is if they're better than me, that can only make me better. It's going to make me work harder, and that's going to make them work harder. Everybody wants to play, and competition can only make us better on Saturdays."
