Chungong impressed with UVa
Olney (Md.) Good Counsel has been a good source of talent for UVa over the years. Rising-senior captain Nick Jenkins, a defensive tackle for the Cavaliers, was a standout there. Last year, Vincent Croce, a talented lineman from the school, verbally committed to the Cavaliers and signed in February.
Now, the class of 2012 looks to have another Good Counsel talent high on the board as Roderick Chungong, one of the top junior defensive linemen in Maryland, was at UVa over the weekend and came away impressed with what he saw.
Chungong, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect, has received verbal offers from Virginia, Duke, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi State, NC State, Rutgers, Stanford and UCF. That offer list alone places him in elite company, as far as east coast defensive ends go.
UVa fans probably hadn't heard a lot about Chungong until recently. He was in Charlottesville for the Spring Game on Saturday and the trip helped him understand what UVa is all about.
