Adams Commits to Cowboy Basketball

Larry Shyatt's staff received their second verbal commitment for 2012-13 when point guard Josh Adams verballed the program. Torrington native Jason McManamen also committed to Shyatt on Sunday.

Adams visited Laramie this weekend and came to a quick decision following his two hour drive back to Denver on Sunday.

"I checked the campus out this summer when I attended coach Shyatt's team camp and walked around campus, but got to see it in more detail this time around and really liked what I saw," said Adams. "I like the new staff, coach Shyatt and his son Jeremy, coach Allen Edwards. They want to play an uptempo, pressure type style that fits me. The players and the recruits seem to get along well and it is a solid decision and a good fit."

The 6-foot-1 Chaparral High School point guard out of the Denver area has sneaky athleticism and good skills with the basketball. He passes well, can shoot and shows good leaping ability by throwing down some big dunks in high school.

"I bring a good work ethic and want to get better," said Adams. "The coaches seemed to like my skills with the basketball and how I can push the tempo making my teammates better around me. I try to push my teammates and make them better."

The Cowboys liked what they saw from Adams while he was at the UW team camp this summer. He is an active player defensively and plays with a smooth flow on the offensive side of the court.

"I'm going to have keep working on all parts of my game," said Adams. "My shooting and playmaking ability is focus on improving, but really every area I will continue work on improving."

Adams received offers from Wyoming, Portland, Hawaii, South Dakota, and Northern Colorado, and he mentioned Boston College began recruiting him of late.

"It's been great to commit and all the players seem to be really on board with the program," said Adams. "They want to look at me as a point guard and that is a good part with the players in or coming to play here."

Adams brings good offensive punch averaging 16.1 points per game in Colorado's most competitive division during his junior campaign.

The early signing period is set for November 9th and Adams will sign his LOI that day.
