Recruiting Notebook: Nine to Watch
Arkansas' coaching staff finally caught a break on Wednesday when Denham Springs (La.) running back Kaleb Blanchard became the Hogs' first verbal commitment of 2013.
The Razorbacks originally had a pair of pledges from wide receiver Austin Bennett and running back Jamel James, but both de-committed shortly after hearing of Bobby Petrino's firing on April 10. Arkansas coaches hit the road this week in hopes of getting the ball rolling again, and while it's still going to be a tough process, landing an out-of-state commitment from a prospect who had other SEC offers sure seems like a nice place to start.
While it may be hard to believe as long as the Hogs have a 10-month head coach, it should come as no surprise if they gain a few more verbal commitments over the next few months. Obviously, it's hard to imagine Arkansas keeping up with the rest of the SEC in terms of numbers prior to December, but there are some prospects to keep an eye on this spring and summer...
