Cordell to be busy this summer
Cody Cordell only played in a little more than seven games in his junior season but he threw for about 1,800 yards and had 27 touchdowns so the Encino (Calif.) Crespi quarterback has been noticed by some college coaches.
Cordell is hoping this summer he attracts even more schools.
New Mexico State and Wyoming have already offered Cordell, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound pro-style quarterback, and he said Colorado, Iowa State and San Jose State are also showing interest.
A summer filled with camp stops and unofficial visits could boost his recruitment even more heading into his senior season. The busy few weeks will start happening after next month.
"In early June I'm heading up to Purdue to check out their campus and I'm going to visit San Diego State, too," Cordell said. "I'm also going to check out Arizona when our first regular season game is out there this year.
"There's no favorite right now. I'm just playing the field a little bit and whoever shows me interest I'll look at them. There's nothing for sure right now."
Cordell missed one complete game and a half of another with a sprained ankle last season.
He was also replaced early in the second half of other games because Encino Crespi held a comfortable lead.
One of the top programs in Southern California, Encino Crespi opens its season at Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe in late August.
