Apodaca ready for Pueblo Central

Silver Creek linebacker Andre Apodaca helped his team go on the road last weekend and upset Elizabeth. The victory now puts this junior and his teammates into a battle with a hot Pueblo Central team.

"In watching them, they are a straight up football team. They'll do play action but they are good at running the ball. The one strength our defense prides ourselves in is stopping the run. We are going to try and stop them one play at a time."

Apodaca talked about two players on the opposition that they will be keeping a close eye on.

"Their tailback and quarterback are good athletes. Their tailback has good feet and he is pretty shifty. Their quarterback makes plays with his feet and is a good athlete."

There are a few areas that Apodaca believes can help push his team back into the Class 3A final four.

"We have to play disciplined football and take it one play at a time. Our offense has to take advantages of our opportunities and score. We both have good run offenses so the better defense will likely help their team win."

Apodaca continues to receive recruiting attention and talked about three programs close to home.

"CSU, Wyoming, and CU have been there a little bit. Those are the three that I am most interested in."

There are also more programs interested in Apodaca.

"I've been contacted by Baylor and smaller schools like UNC, South Dakota State, the University of South Dakota, and Chadron State. It is school like that."
