Risner feels first offer is coming

Wiggins lineman Dalton Risner landed a number of postseason honors during the course of his junior year. His dominance in the trenches helped push his team to another solid run overall in 2012.

"The year went well but didn't end like we wanted it to. The senior leaders really stepped up and we fought hard all year. For me, it was an especially good year because I dominated every opponent. I didn't get as much competition as I thought I would."

Risner is busy working out but is keeping a close eye on recruiting as well.

"I've been in contact with Wyoming, CSU, Stanford, Oregon, and Tulsa. Those have been the main ones. I've also been in contact with Nebraska, Kansas State, and the University of Northern Colorado but those are the main ones."

A recent junior day trip is something that Risner feels will lead to his first offer.

"I was just at CSU Junior Day and was there with (Windsor lineman) Trenton Noller. We got a lot of attention from the coaches. They said they will start doing verbal offers in February and that is when me and Trenton are expecting offers to come our way. They gave me a lot of attention and it was a good experience."

Risner has had a lot of others interested in his skills overall.

"Stanford University came by my school this Friday and talked to my coach for 30 minutes, my principal for 20 minutes, and me for 15 minutes. I think I was the only junior in the state that they came and visited. They invited me to a junior day in January so that is huge. Wyoming, Tulsa, and Oregon have all said that they want to get me on their campus too."

A number of other junior days could get Risner on the recruiting trail very soon.

"Wyoming has invited me but hasn't given me a final date. Stanford has already invited me but I am just waiting for them to set the date. The University of Tulsa has talked about it and so has Oregon. Kansas State, the University of Washington, and Boise State are schools I'm hoping to hear more from as well.

Three schools stand out according to this talented junior.

"Going by relationships and being on the phone, my top three are probably Wyoming, Oregon, and Stanford. Those three are the ones that I have the best relationships with. I am expecting to hear a lot more from Boise and Washington so we'll see what happens there."
