Risner finally gets the news

Wiggins offensive lineman Dalton Risner has spent some time working to prove that he could be a Division I player at the college level. The time and effort he put in paid off recently as his first scholarship was extended from the coaches at Northern Colorado.

"I went to their summer camp and I won offensive MVP. My brother, Taylor, goes there so I have a good relationship with them. I sent them my highlight film from my junior year and talked to them. The head coach offered me and wanted to make sure I was the first player that they offered in the Class of 2014. They are really interested and I have a great relationship with them."

Risner had been waiting to hear the good news for some time.

"I was really excited. I felt it was coming and feel there is a lot more to come. I'm really excited and it is a good feeling to get the first offer."

A lot of other schools have Risner on their radar at this point as well.

"I went to CSU for their junior day and Wyoming is really interested. I'll be going to their junior day. I feel that Wyoming or CSU will be the next school to offer. I have gotten a lot of attention from Boise State, Missouri, Oregon, and Stanford. Stanford has been by my school twice."

Risner has a lot of schools that he likes that have been after him.

"Just between the schools I'm talking to, I really like Stanford. It is a chance of a lifetime to go there. All of the colleges I am talking to are top notch. I also have a great relationship with Wyoming and have been picking up interest with Boise. It is hard to tell who I like the most."
