Downing hearing from two
Standley Lake athlete Jordan Downing proved what he could do last fall on the football field as a junior. College programs have taken notice and two schools are showing him the most interest overall.
"It has really just been Wyoming and CSU."
Downing had a chance to learn more about the Rams on a recent junior day trip.
"I feel it went really good. I had a good connection with their running back coach and he said he'd have me back in the spring"
There has been one college program that Downing has kept an eye on.
"My childhood favorite has always been Texas Tech. I was a pretty big fan of Michael Crabtree so I've always liked them."
Downing excelled last fall on the gridiron but is even more excited for 2013.
"It went pretty great. I feel like we put in a lot of hard work and got a lot better. I am looking forward to next year."
There are some things that Downing feels he can improve on overall.
"It is definitely my speed. I came out last year fast for my size but not compared to everyone else. I need to get faster and improve my breakaway speed. I've been working a lot on speed and explosion."
Downing will be preparing himself for summer camps as well.
"I'm thinking I'll definitely be definitely going down to CSU-Pueblo with the team. That is a definite. Besides that, I might do a couple of in-state ones and go to Nebraska-Kearney but I don't know for sure."
