Wyoming vs CSU Post Game Quotes

Post game quotes from Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt and Colorado State's Larry Eustachy following the Rams sweep of the Cowboys in this year's Border War series. CSU came out with a big margin victory on Wednesday night 78-56 with one week until the Mountain West tournament begins.

UW Head Coach Larry Shyatt Quotes

"They (Colorado State) have been a good rebounding team since day one, and we have been a good defensive team. But to give up 47 points in the first half was really disappointing, and they got many of those 47 points off offensive rebounds. They did what they did best tonight.

"I've been taught you can learn a lot from an opposing coach, and you can learn a lot from an opposing team. They (CSU) play the game the right way.

"If we would have played the first half like we did the second half, I think it would have been a heck of a ball game, but we dug too deep of a whole in the first half.

"It was like holding off a tidal wave with Colton Iverson. I think he set a Mountain West record in field goal percentage not missing a shot tonight.

"We got in severe foul trouble in the first half, but I would credit more of that to Colorado State's aggressiveness. By getting in foul trouble, it almost led to double- Trouble for us as we got more out of kilter and Colorado State got more excited and played with more energy.

"When you're down 47-32 at halftime, a lot has to go right for you to come back. I thought our guys did a good job of cutting the lead to 12 a couple of times. But to make a great run you have to do almost everything right, including hitting free throws. We shot free throws very well early in November, December and January, but we went 7 of 17 tonight, so there is 10 points you're giving up by not converting.

"We're now going to take 72 hours off to focus on rehabing and working on academics. We'll come back Saturday night and get ready for whichever team we'll be playing in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament. I told the guys in the locker room afterward that we've got two tournaments ahead of us, and its fun to be one of those teams who puts a run together at the end of the season. If we're going to get this thing turned around, we have to be a healthier team come next week. I don't think another practice in the next couple of days will help accomplish that, so we'll give the guys some time off to try and get healthy.

"Larry (Nance) did a very good job as the game moved forward, unfortunately Larry was on (Pierce) Hornung the first half and he was dominated by Hornung on the glass the first half. Larry showed good mental toughness in the second half. He made some shots and got some rebounds."

CSU Head Coach Larry Eustachy Quotes

"Wyoming's beat up, that's obvious, but they fight. And I would say they are the best coached team in the league. When you can beat Larry Shyatt, like I say, we're not great friends, but my respect for him is second to none in this league."

"I've never tried harder in my life, and this team really put it together tonight. I just like the way our team has responded to the way I've been teaching them."

"Leanord's not right. I've known him for years and I can tell that he's not right.)(Wyoming] is hobbling right now and we took advantage of it so give us credit, but that's not the Wyoming team that reeled off all those wins."

"I thought we took it to another level tonight, that I've been talking about since I stepped in front of the podium. That I thought it was just about us tonight."
