2013 Ranking Preview
NOTES:TexasHoops.com will release the 2013 rankings Tuesday, June 12. The much anticipated class of 2014 will hit the front page of TexasHoops.com on Wednesday, June 20.
Change at the top?...
In the class of 2013, five players will make their case for a spot on the McDonald's All-American squad, and they all will have fought for the No. 1 spot in the rankings. Julius Randle has held the top spot in the TexasHoops.com rankings since January, 2011, but the power forward is feeling the heat from Andrew Harrison, Keith Frazier, Aaron Harrison, and Matt Jones (Duke Commit) for the No. 1 tag.
Newcomers to the Top 100...
Six-foot-8 Pleasant Grove's Dustin Thomas has shown that his size causes mismatches. The face-up four man has a soft touch from the perimeter and creates plenty of space inside the paint.
Cory Scott hits the rankings after a strong spring. Scott is a two-guard out of Copperas Cove that puts the ball on the deck and blows by the defender. He can explode to the basket and finish above the rim in traffic.
Another shooter is Houston-based James Harrison. The strong built, 6-foot-4 Harrison from Westfield, creates space to stroke the long ball.
From out West, is 6-foot-3 wing, Rene Esparza (El Paso Faith Christian). Esparza is a versatile player that handles the ball in pressure situations. He has good court vision, nice passing ability, and is skilled on the perimeter.
Waco University high school's Kenrich Williams is a long, lanky 6-foot-6 power forward that can face up and drain the three, or drive to the basket and hit floaters.
