Wyoming Faces Air Force In Big Game
The Wyoming Cowboys look to win their fourth straight game and move to 3-0 in league play, though they'll have to do it on the road versus a Falcon team with their backs against the wall.
The Falcons are coming off a three-point loss against TCU and bring a triple-option attack that is a chore for opponents to prepare for in one week.
"We understand that you have to play extremely disciplined and assignment football when you're trying to stop an option attack that is running as effectively as Air Force's," coach Dave Christensen said. "We've got to get guys in the right position, not jumping gaps or trying to do more than their assignment."
On offense, the Cowboys are getting more effective each week at running the football behind true freshman quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels, true freshman running back Alvester Alexander and sophomore running back Brandon Stewart, who is a converted wide receiver.
As all three get more comfortable in their roles-Carta-Samuels and Alexander as collegiate starters and Stewart in a different position-they'll continue to give Wyoming's offense a dimension that can help it control the line of scrimmage and win games.
That will be key as the Cowboys enter their final six games against teams with a combined record of 22-11.
