Sigler lands two new offers but Rebels lead
There is plenty of momentum right now as it relates to the recruitment of three-star linebacker Devaunte Sigler and he has earned it. The big 6-foot-4, 250-pound linebacker-defensive end hybrid recently added two more offers to his list following camp performances, taking him to seven offers.
"I picked up two offers in the same week," Sigler said. "On Thursday I went to the UAB camp over in Daphne and they offered and then I got an offer from Auburn [on Sunday]."
The Auburn offer came after Sigler impressed in front of the Tiger coaches at camp. However, with the interest that they had shown prior to the camp, Sigler wasn't surprised to see the offer come.
"I already knew it was coming because I had already talked to them," he said. "They had evaluated me in person, seen me on film and talked to the people I hang around so they knew I was a good person. I enjoyed myself a lot, being around everybody and the coaches."
Auburn and UAB join Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Louisiana-Lafayette and Memphis on Sigler's offer list. With Auburn being the first major in-state program to offer, that one in particular was big.
"That was a big one for everybody," he said. "I was really an Alabama fan, that's who I grew up watching. Auburn is a good program though. They have good people all around it. I like the way the coaches evaluate. That's what I like now. They don't jump the gun, they wait and see how everything is and make sure it's right."
Despite the interest in the Tigers, another SEC West program stands out to Sigler.
"Actually Ole Miss is the one that's standing out right now," he said. "They were the first big school to offer me."
Though he hasn't visited Ole Miss yet, Sigler has plans to hit the Oxford campus this summer and also plans to attend several other camps throughout the summer. Clearly that is a good plan if he has hopes of more offers and Sigler has proven that he is a strong camp performer.
"Coaches just tell me everytime that they like the kids ready to work," he said. "I'm always the first in line getting it done and when the coaches say pick it up, I say nothing but 'yes sir'. They tell me I have a great attitude and I'm athletic."
He's also versatile. Sigler is listed at linebacker but could easily play defensive end as well. Currently, the three-star prospect is ranked as the nation's No. 53 outside linebacker.
