Perkins gets up-close look at Ole Miss

Brooklyn (Forrest County), Miss., athlete Adarrius Perkins continued his spring travels Saturday, checking out Ole Miss' junior day.

Perkins has picked up offers from Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Arkansas State. While he's not naming leaders, the Golden Eagles may have held an edge entering Saturday in large part to his having attended a handful of USM's spring practices.

"They're doing good, and I like the coaches, too," Perkins said of Larry Fedora's program.

Perkins has also attended junior days and/or spring practices at Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi State.

Perkins said Saturday's trek to Oxford was a get-to-know-you visit of sorts.

"I guess they want me," Perkins said. "I haven't been talking to that many people, just (Ole Miss running backs) Coach (Derrick) Nix. He wanted me to come up to the junior day. I wanted to check out the people, the schemes, all that kind of stuff."

Ole Miss, like most of the schools recruiting Perkins, views the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder as a player who could help on both sides of the football. That's fine with Perkins.

"It doesn't matter to me," Perkins said. "Anywhere they throw me, that's where I'm going to play."

Perkins said he's nowhere close to a decision regarding his college future.

"I'm wide open," Perkins said.
