Eagles strike north of the border

Earlier this week Boston College received some good news from a prospect that calls Canada home. Joel Zoungrana, a 6-foot, 183-pound wide receiver committed to the Eagles not long after impressing the coaching staff at one of BC's camps.

Zoungrana hasn't garnered a lot of headlines so far but his is a name BC fans will become much more familiar with in the months ahead.

The Montreal (Queb.) Champlain-Lennoxville prospect did well for himself at Boston College's camp in mid-June and the coaches liked what they saw.

"They offered me after the camp and I just waited a couple of weeks. I decided to commit on Monday," Zoungrana told EagleAction.com this week.

"I knew some other schools would be offering after BC offered. After that camp I got offers from New Hampshire and Brown. The next week I went to the Penn State camp and that didn't go as well. I didn't like it there as much as I liked BC, so I'm happy with my choice."

What does Zoungrana like so much about BC?

"It's just the perfect fit. Academically the school is great. It's in the ACC and they like the pass the ball (in the conference) so that's a good fit, too.

"The day after the camp I met up with the coaches and they showed me around campus. I had a really good time."

BC is getting a solid athlete in Zoungrana, who has been clocked at 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash and has a registered vertical of 37-inches.

He told EagleAction.com that he is solidly committed to BC. Zoungrana is BC's ninth commitment in the Class of 2012 and the second wide receiver.
