Junior lineman to visit later this month

Jacob Basilica is waiting for his first verbal offer to come in but he's not being passive about the recruiting process. The Oakdale (Conn.) Montville offensive lineman is hearing from several schools, including Boston College.

Basilica, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound lineman, is planning on attending Boston College's first junior day of 2012.

"I think it's on January 28 and I'll be there," Basilica told EagleAction.com this week. "The last time I was there was a while ago. I don't remember what game it was but it was the last game I was at.

"The coaches have been sending me stuff in the mail. I haven't really had any contact with them besides the time I went to the game."

Basilica may not have had much contact with the coaches but based on everything he knows about BC he's extremely high on the school.

"It's awesome. I mean, it's so cool," he laughed, referring to BC. "They brought me down into the tunnel before the game where the team comes out and just seeing that maroon and gold was awesome."

Does he know how interested the coaches are at this point?

"To be honest I don't know because I've never done this before," he admitted. "I can't tell how interested anyone is yet. I would say it has to be at least a medium level."

Basilica told EagleAction.com he has received mail from Notre Dame, Illinois and UConn. Schools have been requesting his film and looking into him, signaling they might be poised to recruit him harder later this year.

While Basilica is already a prospect that has established himself as a player to watch he's still just tapping into his potential. If he can improve as much this year as he did last year he could see his stock really shoot up.

"One of the biggest parts of my improvement this year was because of the camp I attended at BC," he said. "I learned much better technique there. I had never heard that your thumbs are supposed to be together on your blocks and I learned that from Coach Devine. The first time I met him he taught me something important and I thought that was cool."
