Each recruiting cycle is good for at least one surprise, and Martin Luther King defensive end Kenderius Whitehead has made a rather shocking decision.
According to his MLK Head Coach Mike Carson, Whitehead has trimmed his list to two teams, and eliminated the team that many believed was his favorite.
"He has let me know that he is down to Clemson and NC State," said Carson. "He came in and told me that recently."
Georgia was long thought to be the leader for the star pass rusher, and he referred to Athens as "home" several times throughout the process.
At this point, however, it appears that he has taken the Bulldogs completely out of the picture.
"I don't know why he has eliminated Georgia," said Carson. "I know he likes them a lot, but he just came in here and told me that he had it down to North Carolina State and Clemson."
According to Carson, Whitehead, fresh of his visit to Clemson, will have his day in the sun very soon.
"Right now we are trying to set up a press conference for his announcement," said Carson. "It will happen in the next few days or a week or so, and he will decide between Clemson and NC State. That is all I know at this point."
