Bennett Down to Two?

It's no secret that the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders are in need of some beef on the defensive line and are looking to fill that void this off-season.

After hosting a collection of talented prospects, a few defensive tackle's stand out above the crowd.

Enter Derious Bennett out of Carver High School in Georgia.

At 6'1 270 pounds, Bennett made his presence felt on the defensive line for the last few years and is ready to take on the challenge of playing Division I college football. Just one questions remains - where will he be playing?

With a listed top three of Arkansas, Colorado State, and Middle Tennessee State, Bennett will have his work cut out for with Signing Day less than two weeks away. Nevertheless, he is enjoying the once in a lifetime opportunity but says it gets crazy when you are trying to choose the right team.

"Right now my top three are Arkansas, Middle Tennessee and Colorado State," Bennett told DeaconIllustrated.com earlier this month.

There are a couple of deciding factors that will weigh heavily on Bennett's mind when it comes to making a final decision, though.

"I'm looking at the defensive scheme and how well I get along with the coaches - and academics," Bennett told GoMiddle.com.

Even without a defensive line coach officially named, Middle Tennessee does not face an uphill battle in the eyes and mind of Bennett.

"I'm not worried about it as long I have the relationship with the other coaches," Bennett said.

Bennett was in Murfreesboro this past weekend and spoke very highly of his visit to Middle Tennessee.

"The campus was lovely and the facilities were top of the line," Bennett said. "And the city was really into Middle Tennessee football."

But his visit to Middle Tennessee may not have been enough to seal the deal. Bennett has spoken with new Colorado State head coach Jim McElwain and admires his desire to turn that program around.

Bennett says he will make his decision after his visit to Colorado State this weekend. Will he join Jim McElwain at CSU or will he join Rick Stockstill and the Blue Raiders?
