Oregon recruiting roundup

Oregon capped off a great month in recruiting last week by landing a verbal commitment from 6-7, 253-lb. defensive lineman Jalen Jelks of Desert Vista High in Phoenix, Arizona.

Jelks, currently rated a three-star prospect by most of the services is the Ducks 9th commitment of the class, and following the pledges of 5-star, San Diego-area running back Royce Freeman, and 4-star cornerback Arrion Springs of Texas, it gives the Webfoots some tremendous momentum going into the fall official visit season. Quarterback Morgan Mahalak, who committed back in April, has taken ownership of his class, doing a lot of outreach and athlete-to-athlete recruiting by text, cellphone and social media, adding new energy to the recruiting effort and its potential.
