East Texas running back eyes Texas

With a limited number of scholarships available for the Texas Longhorn 2009 recruiting class, many fans are left wondering which prospects will be lucky enough to receive a coveted offer. Unfortunately for Longhorn fans though, signing day for the 2009 class is still well over a year away and any guess as to who will ultimately wind up with an offer is just as good as the next.

With all of this uncertainty however, it is still possible to narrow down the players who will at the very least be candidates for offers at their respective positions.

One such player who will undoubtedly be evaluated by the coaching staff is Sherman Bearcat running back Waymon James. The 5-9, 180 pound speedster has already caught the eye of some college coaches and he says that a few decided to come by in the spring to get a closer look.

"The coaches from OSU, OU, and Nebraska came out to watch me during spring ball," James said.

These aren't the only colleges trying to communicate with the young playmaker either and according to James, his mailbox is starting to fill up with letters from various other schools.

"Yeah I've been hearing from a couple of schools like OSU and Arkansas," James said. "I've gotten a few letters from Texas too."

With all the attention from various schools in the area, James says that there is one school that he grew up a fan of and if he had the opportunity to play at it would make for an easy decision.

"My favorite team is UT. For one, I really like the colors and my favorite player was Vince Young. I've also been to Austin a few times and I really like the campus," James said..

James was a fixture in the running game for the Sherman Bearcat offense this past season and is also a state champion wrestler.
