Hoover 7-on-7 notes

Julio Jones is that good. He's that athletic. He's that talented. And he's only getting better.

Rivals.com recruiting analyst JC Shurburtt has evaluated Jones on many occasions and said the most impressive aspect of Jones' game is that he keeps improving on something. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound wide receiver from Foley (Ala.) was good at the Hoover 7-on-7 event last year. He was better this time around.

Jones is already the top-rated wide receiver nationally and the No. 1 prospect in the Alabama top 30 of 2008. Rivals.com rates him the third-best overall prospect behind Jeannette (Pa.) dual-threat quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure running back Darrell Scott.

Florida, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Notre Dame, Florida State and a host of others programs are chasing Jones, who finished with 75 receptions for 1,306 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. As a sophomore, he caught 51 passes for 805 yards and eight scores. Shurburtt said he believes Jones has not reached his ceiling yet.
