U.S. Army All-American Bowl Notebook: Pitt commits have an impact

Hale chooses Pitt

Shayne Hale's decision was the big part of his day, and probably the most exciting part of the day for Pitt fans. Hale had three hats to choose from, Ohio State, Virginia and Pitt. He put the Pitt hat on, announcing his decision on national TV.

Hale got in the game at defensive end and had one tackle. The East defense limited the West to 30 yards rushing for the game, 28 of which came in the final quarter. After the game, Hale said he will be a linebacker at Pitt, something that held an edge over some of the other schools that were recruiting him. He was excited by the experience in San Antonio this week, in addition to playing with two of his future Pitt teammates, Lucas Nix and Jonathan Baldwin.

"It says a lot about the WPIAL," Hale said. "I think Pittsburgh football is the best. It showed today. It's definitely a step up for Pitt. We're going to bring Pitt back on the map."
