Washington Named To All-MW Teams

Wyoming forward Leonard Washington received news today he was picked by the Mountain West media and coaches as All-MWC defensive team and was listed on the all-league third team.

Last year, Cowboy point guard Jaydee Luster was named the 2011-12 defensive player of the year. No other Pokes were named to this years MW all-league teams.

Washington and the Cowboys are preparing to play Nevada in the play-in game on Tuesday night at 6:00 MST in Las Vegas (Thomas & Mack Center), while the winner between the Cowboys-Wolfpack will battle top seed and nationally ranked New Mexico on Wednesday night at 7:30 PM MST.

New Mexico head coach Steve Alford earned MW Coach of the Year honors, while the Lobos' Kendall Williams was selected as the Player of the Year.

Additionally, UNLV teammates Khem Birch and Anthony Bennett garnered Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year accolades, respectively, while Colorado State teammates Colton Iverson and Daniel Bejarano were chosen as the Newcomer and Sixth Man of the Year, respectively.
