Future Sooners See Big Opportunity against Alabama

Untitled Document

In the wake of the news of Oklahoma's Sugar Bowl berth the talk around SoonerScoop.com has surrounded the opportunity for Oklahoma to begin to put themselves back in the national spotlight. So the Scoop staff thought it was the perfect opportunity to catch up with Oklahoma's commitments and several of their top targets.

Interestingly, lifelong Sooner fan and Rivals250 quarterback commitment Justice Hansen, shares the sentiment of his fellow Sooner fans.

"I think it's a great opportunity. Not only for the team now but also recruiting," Hansen said. "People have talked about how great Alabama is for the past three years, so OU is coming into this game with nothing to lose and everything to prove."

Hansen, who has been a highly active recruiter along with several other members of the class of 2014, talked about the chance to change the Sooners recruiting future. And as most who follow recruiting will tell you, it's all about momentum.

"I think it's great coming off a big win against Oklahoma State. Against what seems to be the most talented team in the nation. I got faith in my team, January 2 is going to be a great day for the Sooner nation," Curtis Bolton said in a statement echoed by another of his future teammates.

"I think it's going to be great competition. Going to be a great game to watch, can't wait to see them play. I'm glad they got that game, and we're on a roll," Alex Dalton said.

For all of the enthusiasm over Oklahoma's big bowl game there are two members of the class who could be cheering on their future teammates in Tuscaloosa if they'd felt so inclined. Thankfully for Sooners fans Mark Andrews and Samaje Perine will be playing next season in Norman.

"I think it's awesome that these two teams with a huge history and tradition get to meet. It'll be a big physical game but I think OU will hold their own and shock a lot of people," Andrews said.

Perine's situation is a bit of a different one as many felt he would inevitably return to the Yellowhammer state.

"I'm torn. My home state or my future home. It should be a good game," he said.

It will be interesting to see how the game plays out but there is no doubt Oklahoma's future Sooners and other top recruits are confident the Sooners are ready to surprise the college football pundits.

More from Sooner recruits on Oklahoma's big bowl game berth:

"It should be a good game, looking for a win! Boomer!" Devante Bond said.

"I think that is going to be the game of the year," Brandon Glenn said.

"It's going to be a great game," Marcus Green said.

"I think it's going to be great competition. Going to be a great game to watch, can't wait to see them play. I'm glad they got that game, and we're on a roll," Alex Dalton said.

"Can't wait to watch it, I like the fact we play Alabama," Tay Evans said.

"I think it's a great opportunity to show how good we really are," Dimitri Flowers said.

"I think we can beat them," Carson Meier said.

"Two historical programs playing in a BCS bowl, enough said," Josh Wariboko said. "Both have great tradition but different playing styles. These are the games that college football is all about."

"That's too fresh," Jonathan Thomas said. "How fresh would it be if I get to go to that game?"

"It'll be a good game, I know we'll come out and play hard," Bobby Evans said.

"We're the underdogs for sure but we'll be fine," Dallis Todd said. "Carry the momentum off the Bedlam game and we'll walk out with a win. We got to get our pass game on point as well."

"I'm a little bit surprised, but of course they have a chance," Jeffery Mead said. "I think people are going to underestimate Oklahoma like they did with the Oklahoma State game. I'm not saying it will be the same result but I won't exactly be surprised if Oklahoma wins."
