UW Reinstates Washington In 2012-13

The Wyoming Cowboy basketball program announced Tuesday senior forward Leonard Washington has been fully reinstated and will play his final season for the Pokes.
UW Athletic Director Tom Burman and UW coach Larry Shyatt setup a plan for Washington after he was suspended last spring and he completed the program leading to his reinstatement while he attended classes, participated in preseason workouts and joined the Cowboys on their summer trip to Calgary, though he didn't play.

Shyatt didn't specify the details of the program setup for Washington.
"Leonard has met our criteria for earning his way back onto this team and has done everything Athletics Director Tom Burman and I have asked of him," Shyatt said. "We are pleased that he will have the opportunity to earn his degree this spring and look forward to him continuing to help this team."
The news is good for the Cowboys who'll have a young basketball team and just three seniors in Washington, wingman Luke Martinez, and point guard Derrious Gilmore.
Wyoming only has one eligible junior on the roster with Juco transfer guard Nathan Sobey who signed in the spring.
Wyoming will also return a group of sophomores including promising forward Larry Nance, Jr., guard Riley Grabau, center Matt Sellers and guard Shakir Smith, along with walk on Jack Bentz.
Shyatt also added Juco power forward Derek Cooke and incoming freshmen Josh Adams, Jason McNanamen, and Austin Haldorson to the roster with the last recruiting class.
Alabama transfer and guard Charles Hankerson, Jr. will sit out this season for NCAA transfer rules.
A Second-Team All-Mountain West selection, Washington averaged 12.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks in 32 starts for the Cowboys last season.
He ranked in the top 10 of six MW statistical categories, including leading the conference in blocks (1.0) and field goal percentage (56.0). He scored in double figures in 22 games and notched six double-doubles.
The Cowboys began preseason workouts this week and official practice starts in five weeks before opening up the season on November 10th against Western State.
